I thoroughly enjoyed reading Linda Principe's book Echoes of Light New Poems. It was thought provoking and I found myself able to relate to some of the experiences she wrote about. She brilliantly relates several life experiences through the use of poetry. Highly recommend.
In her new collection of poems, Echoes of Light, Linda Principe offers insight on life’s contrasts old and new, love and loss, tangible and intangible. Her poems testify the complexity of simple sounds and sights in everyday life. A line in “Academic Poets” zeroes in on the poet’s promise to deliver accessible and digestible ideas as she herself posits “I prefer the persistence of moment into memory.” The poems ignite a reader’s recognition about self through mundane, ever present, routine things like ink, wood, a hallway, or a room. It’s the readability of the poems that makes this collection a book I hugged when I was done happy to know I can revisit the words anytime.
This collection of poetry invoked memories that I personally thought had long since been stowed away in the recesses of my mind. Linda, thank you for reviving such fond thoughts of yesteryear with such accuracy! This collection, for me, I felt was a deeper personal look into the life and times that all of us are able to relate too. in particular, the poem, Conspiracy of Spirits, brought me to tears as it touched the oh so familiar heart strings of when life was so simple and the future was filled with wonder and awe! Challenging ourselves to explore the not so innocent and taboo. Life brings with it pain and disappointment and we all need to remember those beautiful, unadulterated moments that keep us hoping and believing that there is joy and sweetness in every breath we take. "Echoes of Light" truly does bring the reader back into the light when some have been living in the dark for far too long!
